Terms of Use
Last updated July 19, 2026
Lantern is a personal Bible-study notes app. By using it, you agree to these terms. They are meant to be plain and fair.
Your account
You sign in with your email or a Google account. Keep access to that inbox or account secure, since it is how you get into your notes. One sign-in identity maps to one personal workspace; signing in by email and by Google with the same verified address reaches the same account.
Your content is yours
The notes, journal entries, and study you write belong to you. You grant Lantern only the permission needed to store your content and show it back to you as part of running the service. Lantern does not claim ownership of your writing and does not publish it.
Acceptable use
Please do not use Lantern to:
- break the law or infringe others' rights;
- attack, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or other accounts;
- resell or redistribute the service or the scripture text in ways the underlying licenses do not allow.
Scripture text
Scripture is displayed from the Berean Standard Bible, provided through bible.helloao.org. That text is subject to its own terms and public-domain dedication. Lantern shows it for personal study; it does not grant you additional rights to it.
Availability
Lantern is a personal project offered as-is. It aims to be reliable and to keep your notes safe, but it comes without warranties, and it may change, have downtime, or be discontinued. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose; export options are provided where available.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Lantern and its operator are not liable for indirect or incidental damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service. Your use is at your own discretion and risk.
Ending use
You can stop using Lantern at any time and request deletion of your account (see the Privacy page). Access may be suspended if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator's place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled there.
Changes
These terms may be updated; the date above will change when they do. Continuing to use Lantern after an update means you accept the revised terms.
